WHAT IS DIRECT DEPOSIT?

Direct deposit, also know as electronic funds transfer (EFT), means the automatic deposit of all your child support (and, if applicable, spousal maintenance) payments directly into one bank account. The bank account must be a savings or checking account.

WHY SIGN UP FOR DIRECT DEPOSIT?

Please consider the following benefits, which you will enjoy when your support payments are deposited directly into your account:

  • You get your money faster because mailing time is eliminated,

  • You do not need to make extra trips to the bank or wait in long line, and

  • Your checks cannot be lost or stolen.

HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR DIRECT DEPOSIT?

Fill out the Authorization for Direct Deposit form and mail it as follows:

  • If your case is IV-D, mail the form to the Division of Child Support Enforcement, ATTN: Direct Deposit, P.O. Box 36626, Phoenix, AZ 85067-6626. Your checks currently have a purple background.

  • If your case is non-IV-D, mail the form to your local Clerk of Court Office ( click here for a listing of local Clerks of Court). Your checks currently have a green background.

The Authorization for Direct Deposit form can be obtained from DCSE or your local Clerk of Court Office (click here for a listing of local Clerks of Court). The form is also available from the Clerk's Office eForms On Demand.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CASE IS IV-D OR NON-IV-D?

If you receive or have received public assistance or have applied for child support services, your case is considered IV-D.

If you have never received public assistance or applied for child support services, your case is considered non-IV-D.

WHEN WILL MY DIRECT DEPOSIT START?

After the authorization form is received, completely filled out and signed by you, the bank will be contacted to set up the direct deposits. Please allow four to six weeks for direct deposit to take effect. In the meantime, you will continue to receive your support checks in the mail.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When a payment is posted to your child support case, your bank is electronically notified to credit your account. In most instances, the payment will be received at your bank within three business days after DCSE applies the payment to your case.

HOW WOULD I KNOW I HAVE A PAYMENT?

  • If your case is non-IV-D, you may contact your local Clerk of Court Office (click here for a listing of local Clerks of Court).

  • If your case is IV-D, you may contact DCSE Customer Service at (602)252-4045.

  • In either case, you may also contact your financial institution.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I CHANGE MY ACCOUNT?

If you change your checking or savings account, you must fill out a new Authorization for Direct Deposit form. The Authorization for Direct Deposit form can be obtained by contacting DCSE or your local Clerk of Court Office (click here for a listing of local Clerks of Court). The form is also available from the Clerk's Office eForms On Demand.

Indicate on the form that this request is an update, and sign the request, before you mail it to DCSE or your local Clerk of Court Office, as appropriate (click here for a listing of local Clerks of Court).

HOW DO I STOP DIRECT DEPOSITS?

Fill out the form, sign it and mail it to DCSE or your local Clerk of Court Office, as appropriate, (click here for a listing of local Clerks of Court).
